Antianginal efficacy by gender

  • Although exercise duration improved from baseline in men and women at all ranolazine doses studied, women showed less improvement than men.
  • The treatment-by-gender interaction was not significant in either study, possibly because the power of the test for interaction was limited by the small number of women in the studies (27% in MARISA and 22% in CARISA).
  • The P values in the MARISA study are for comparison of the study drug with placebo; the P values in the CARISA study are for comparison of the study drug with placebo (analysis of covariance).
  • The predominant reason for stopping the exercise test in women and men was angina.
