Misconceptions about rhythm-control strategy

  • McCabe et al performed a national electronic survey of AF management among 148 internal medicine physicians.
  • The survey uncovered important misconceptions regarding a rhythm-control strategy. These misconceptions are listed on the slide.
  • In fact, current guidelines make continued anticoagulation for all patients with AF (in the absence of contraindications or lone AF) a Class I recommendation (Fuster V et al. Circulation. 2006;114:e257-e354).
