Profile of direct thrombin inhibition

  • In summary, SPORTIF III and V demonstrated that oral ximelagatran was at least as effective as dose-adjusted warfarin in prevention of stroke in AF patients at high risk for this outcome.1,2

  • Further, ximelagatran caused less bleeding than warfarin and offered fixed oral dosing without the need for coagulation monitoring.
